Zazie is the child of a german cabinet maker in Berlin, Germany in 1991. Her father was an German cabinetmaker, who came into the United States after the Fall of the Berlin Wall in 1990, is also her mother, a South African American social worker. Beetz graduated from that same school with Jennifer Aniston. Beetz was a graduate of LaGuardia in 2007, went to Skidmore College and studied French. She began auditioning immediately after graduating college. After a few auditions in Atlanta she was offered the role of Van. Beetz was the daughter of an African American father as well as a German mother who was born in Berlin from Berlin was brought up as a bilingual New Yorker. Participating in community theaters and local stages since early childhood, Zazie found her joy when she was in the middle school years and began growing into acting.
